“Those who tell the stories rule the world”
The Company
EIGHT TRICK PONY is an award winning production company dedicated to bold, emotionally resonant storytelling. Founded by producer and creative strategist Rory Rooney, the company draws on over two decades of experience shaping moving pictures across feature films, documentaries, prestige series and high impact advocacy work.
Rory’s career spans an extraordinary range of collaborators, from global brands like Starbucks and Agent Provocateur to A‑list talent including John Cusack, Elton John, Lady Gaga, Johnny Knoxville and Joey Bada$$. Equally at home guiding first time directors or partnering with icons like Tony Kaye (‘American History X’), his projects consistently earn international recognition.
His Cannes screened debut short ‘The Magic’ launched a body of work that includes acclaimed features such as ‘Baked in Brooklyn’ (Alexandra Daddario) and ‘Drowning’ (Mira Sorvino). His award winning short ‘Hello, Muscles’ collected 14 festival prizes, while the BIFA and BAFTA nominated feature ‘SATU – Year of the Rabbit’ (2025) was shortlisted for the Gandhi Peace Prize. In 2025, his Apple TV release ‘Fog of War’, starring John Cusack and Brianna Hildebrand, further cemented his reputation for high impact cinematic storytelling.
Rory’s upcoming slate includes the short film ‘Small Town Boy’, the extraordinary documentary ‘The Bravest Stuntman in the World’, and the feature ‘Hidden’, written by Oscar and BAFTA winner Lesley Paterson. He also has multiple new projects currently in development.
At EIGHT TRICK PONY, that ethos drives everything we make. We champion ambitious, emotionally charged films and cinematic projects that cut through the noise, resonate deeply and stay with audiences long after the credits roll.
